About Tanah

Story of TANAH

Tanah, the Indonesian word for "soil" and "land," reflects our deep connection to Bali, Indonesia. Blessed with some of the Earth's richest plant sources, the archipelago is among the most biodiverse regions worldwide.

In Bali, indigenous people passionately preserve their living traditions, rooted in Balinese Hinduism. Their guiding philosophy, "Tri Hita Karana," emphasizes spiritualism and beliefs that resonate strongly in today's world.

Tri Hita Karana, translating to "Three causes/ways of well-being/happiness," encompasses harmony among people, harmony with nature and the environment, and harmony with the Gods. These principles inspire our commitment to cultivating harmonious relationships with humanity, Mother Earth, and the Divine.

Why Soil Matters

Healthy soil is the basic of health of all life forms, fostering not only the growth of healthy nutrient-rich food and herbs vital for our well-being, but also sustaining 87% of life forms on our planet. Our connection to soil is crucial in addressing and reversing the current climate crisis.

Today, soil degradation is a pressing global issue, with 50% of topsoil in America already lost. Mismanagement and negligence over the years have led to consequences so severe that we face the possibility of complete soil destruction within 60 years, rendering our planet uninhabitable if we don't act collectively and decisively.

Breaking the cycle of soil destruction requires the elimination of toxic chemicals and pesticides, which have a devastating impact on our water and soil, depleting essential resources and killing beneficial microbes. Choosing organic and non-GMO food and ingredients is a conscious and crucial decision for the Earth's future.

Planting diverse plants help draw down atmospheric carbon dioxide, preserving soil quality and ensuring the continuity of life on Earth. Regenerative agricultural practices that focus on rebuilding organic matter and restoring degraded soil biodiversity result in increased carbon sequestration and improved water retention, creating a positive feedback loop for the environment and our health.

Soil holds the key to overcoming the climate crisis and ensuring the thriving ecosystem we are an integral part of. As we nourish ourselves with the bounties of the Earth, we must also remember to nourish and protect the soil.

Mother Earth nurtures and provides for us generously; all she asks in return is that we cherish and safeguard her precious resources.

Our Vision and Mission

In today's world, many people struggle with health issues such as skin problems, hormonal imbalances, allergies, poor gut health, exhaustion, infertility, and anxiety. However, the conventional health and medical systems seem more focused on treating symptoms rather than addressing the underlying causes of our discomfort. The pharmaceutical industry may alleviate one symptom only to create another, prioritizing profits over genuine healing. This raises questions about the effectiveness and intentions of the multi-billion dollar beauty and healthcare industries.

Amidst these challenges, many of us may feel disillusioned and frustrated with the existing systems. Although we cannot control the entire system, we can influence our role within it. This is the inspiration behind Tanah Herbal—a reflection of our voice, values, and vision for the world.

We advocate for honest, healthy, nourishing, safe, and sustainable products that benefit both people and the planet. By respecting and rewarding the hard work of local farmers and preserving traditional and indigenous wisdom, we foster a holistic approach to well-being. We practice authentic, slow herbalism, sharing years of research, study, and evidence-based knowledge focused on nurturing the body, mind, and soul, rather than relying on superficial marketing gimmicks.

Our mission is to empower you to embrace natural healing and rebuild trust in yourself. We aim to reconnect you with our plant allies, allowing you to experience their power, wisdom, and healing properties. By encouraging a deeper connection with the land we call home, we hope to inspire a transformative journey toward a healthier, more holistic, more harmonious and more sustainable future for you and everyone around you.
